Crest of a wave continues

LEADING trainer Craig Cross continued to ride the crest of a wave at Club Menangle last night.

Fresh from registering his biggest victory in last weekend’s $1million Ainsworth Miracle Mile, Cross dominated proceedings at the world class venue.

Cross captured Australasia’s ultimate speed test with rampaging pacer King Of Swing.

As for his latest assault, Cross won five of the nine races.

“It was a very good night for the team,” Cross said. “We went into the night thinking we had a few good chances on paper, but you never know how it can all work out.

“Things went our way and we went home with some winners.”

Recent stable acquisition Sociable got the ball rolling when she led throughout with Luke McCarthy in the cart.

Covering the mile in 1:52.3 as Game Set Major and Aqua Miss filled the placings, Sociable broke a 23-month absence from the winners’ circle.

Cross and McCarthy then combined to secure the next four consecutive races with Bettors Enforce, Cash N Flow, Flingandwingit and Molly Kelly.

Successful in 1:52.9, Molly Kelly will clash with Sociable next week given both mares recorded their wins in heats of the Autumn Gift.

“I was more confident with Molly Kelly than I was with Sociable, but they both did it well,” Cross said.

“The draw will be very important for both of them in the Final.”
