Returning to happy hunting ground

GLOBE Derby should continue to be a ‘happy hunting ground’ for Victorian reinswoman Kima Frenning tomorrow night.

Making regular trips across the border during the past year Frenning has a phenomenal strike rate at the venue, with her wins including last season’s inaugural The Allwood.

Frenning captured the Group One with the Emma Stewart-trained Pandering, which ended his freshman campaign with five wins and three placings from eight starts for a bankroll of $103,700.

This weekend Frenning will be back as she once again combines with Stewart to tackle the Sales-based series.

The pair will contest the feature with Treachery, which made a successful debut in her heat last Saturday night.

An exceptionally-bred youngster, Treachery is by Captaintreacherous from former top mare Lovelist.

Also prepared by Stewart, Lovelist won several Group races including the 2015 Southern Cross Final in Port Pirie.

“Treachery is a lovely filly,” Frenning said. “She was only having her first start in the heat but felt like a natural two-year-old.

“She should benefit a lot from the run and hopefully be better again in the Final.

“It’s going to be harder this week, but she’s drawn to give us options at the start.”

To begin from barrier four, Treachery is a $1.25 favourite, with Falcons the only other runner under double figures at $4.50.

Second to Treachery in their qualifier, Falcons has drawn the middle of the second row for trainer David Harding.

“Like Treachery, quite a few of them made their debut in the heats and should be better for it,” Frenning said.

“It will be an interesting race and hopefully things can go our way.”
