Talented filly surpasses dam on prestige list
EXCEPTIONALLY-BRED youngster Treachery has surpassed her dam on the prestige list.
By Captaintreacherous, Treachery is from former top mare Lovelist, which was retired with an impressive record of 18 wins and seven placings from 40 starts.
Successful at her first four outings, Lovelist captured the Vicbred Home Grown Final at her third start.
At three Lovelist won the Southern Cross Final in Port Pirie before securing the Breeders’ Crown Championship in Melton as a four-year-old.
Each of Lovelist’s feature victories were at Group Two level for premier trainer Emma Stewart.
Also prepared by Stewart, Treachery is unbeaten from two starts, including tonight’s The Allwood at Globe Derby.
A sales-based series, The Allwood is a Group One event.
“So far she is proving to be every bit as good as her mother,” Stewart said. “Lovelist went on with the job during her next few seasons, so we’ll have to see how far Treachery gets.
“That said, we set her for this series and she’s gone throughout it unbeaten, so we can’t ask for more than that from her.”
Driven by Kima Frenning, Treachery was caught three-wide early from barrier four and received a slight check soon after the start before being surged to the lead with 1200 metres to travel.
Striding clear of the pack leaving the back straight, the filly was never fully extended on her way to a 37-metre win from Valencia, with Milliondollar Kiss 11 metres away third.
“It was a very nice run from her and she should keep getting better as she goes along,” Stewart said.
To be given a light week upon her return to Victoria, the two-year-old will then be set for the Southern Cross in May and Vicbred Super Series in July.
“She will be back in South Australia for the Southern Cross in a couple of months,” Stewart said. “Lovelist ended up having five starts in South Australia and was unbeaten there, so with a bit of luck her daughter will sustain the same record.”
Rating 1:59.5 over 1800 metres, Treachery maintained Stewart’s perfect record in The Allwood after the record-breaking horsewoman won last season’s inaugural edition with Pandering.
Along with the $100,000 Final, Pandering was a class above his rivals during his heat.
Frenning boasts four wins from five The Allwood starts, having driven Pandering, but also missing the placings with Major Mal in a heat.
