Industry shocked by trainer’s sudden passing

HARNESS racing participants are in shock following the sudden death of Andrew Gilbert last night.

Gilbert was a highly respected horseman having either owned or prepared the high-class performers Dream A Dream, Friends For Life, Dixie Chick Dreama and Apocalypse Dreama to name a few.

Gilbert’s horses won major races not only in SA but also on a national scale.

Dream A Dream being the outstanding filly of her year.

As successful as he was as an owner, it was in the preparation of juveniles where Gilbert excelled.

His ability to craft a young horse, and produce it to perform at its optimum from an early age, earned him a reputation second to none throughout the country.

As well as being an owner and trainer Gilbert also served on the HRSA Board for a number of years and his contributions to the industry in South Australia were greatly respected.

Gilbert was clearly one of the industries true gentlemen, and www.nationaltrotguide.com.au expresses our deepest condolences to his wife Julie, and children Jacinta, Christie and Bryce and his extended family.
