Divine intervention needed from draw

FRESH from a drought-breaking victory, Angelic Attitude will require some divine intervention to continue the winning feeling tonight.

A recent addition to Jackson Painting’s stable, Angelic Attitude was third upon debut before scoring in Wagga last Tuesday in what was the four-year-old’s first success in more than two years.

Angelic Attitude’s previous win was for trainer Michael Hawke in West Wyalong on May 24, 2024.

“I liked what I saw of her as a two-year-old, then when I noticed she was up for sale, I grabbed her for my mate Simon (Fuller) and I,” Painting said. “I’ve been very happy with the way she has come along and hopefully she can continue to do a good job.”

As for her pending assignment, Angelic Attitude has drawn the inside of the second row in Young, with Jackson to take the reins.

“She did it tough last week and I’d say she is going to have to do it tough again this time,” Painting said. “From that draw over 1720 metres I’m going to have to put her into the race pretty early.”

Elsewhere on the card Painting will be represented by Better Inthe Dark, which has also drawn the inside of the back row over 1720 metres.

Among the placegetters in three of her five starts during her last campaign, the filly is first-up since her third in Wagga on June 2.

“She won a trial last week and has tightened up nicely since,” Painting said. “It’s not an ideal draw, but she should run a good race.”

Stay Alpha will round out Painting’s evening, with the son of Stay Hungry drawn gate nine.

Stay Alpha was triumphant in Wagga on July 17 before a disappointing effort the following week.
