Drawn to go one better in rich final

AN IDEAL draw has Eye Can Run in the perfect position go one better in this year’s New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge Final.

Having finished second in last season’s feature, Eye Can Run’s prospects of emerging triumphant have increased after drawing the pole in the $125,000 decider.

The KerryAnn Morris-trained three-year-old is engaged in one of four Group Ones to be contested at Cub Menangle on Saturday night.

Winner of her heat in Tamworth on September 17, Eye Can Run sealed her berth in the Final with a solid fourth in her semi at the world class venue last weekend.

The daughter of Heston Blue Chip, which will be driven by Morris’ husband Robbie, is on the third line of betting at $9 with TAB Fixed Odds.

“She did well in her semi and will be in perfect shape for the Final,” Morris said. “She has pulled up brilliantly from the run and her work has been solid…she feels as good as ever.

“She has drawn to get a good trip and hopefully can take full advantage of it.”

Victory will see Eye Can Run join several members of her family on the futurity’s honour roll.

From unraced mare Eye Betta Fly, the filly is from the same clan as Breeders’ Challenge champions Eye See Diamonds and Hardhitter.

The family also includes Two Eye See which enjoyed Group One success, with his triumph coming in the Kevin Seymour Nursery Final at Albion Park.

Eye Can Run’s close relative – Private Eye – is the third favourite at $4.40 in three-year-old Final for the ‘boys’.

Prepared by Rob Xerri, the son of Hes Watching is unbeaten from four starts.
