STAR pacer Colt Thirty One has a prime opportunity to end his campaign on a winning note.
Runner-up behind Cruz and King Of Swing during his last two starts, Colt Thirty One is set to contest tomorrow night’s Christmas Cup at Albion Park.
The son of Mach Three won his previous six outings before clashing with the interstate raiders.
With Cruz and King Of Swing returning to New South Wales, Colt Thirty One is a raging favourite in the feature after drawing to lead throughout from the pole.
It’s the first time the five-year-old has drawn barrier one since July!
“He produced some super runs in his last couple of starts after racing in the breeze,” trainer Grant Dixon said.
“I couldn’t have asked for better efforts from him.
“He’s come through those in great shape and will be ready to go again.
“He still has to get out there and get the job done but I can’t see any reason why he won’t.”
To be given a break following the 2680-metre event, Colt Thirty One is likely to embark on an interstate campaign in the New Year.
“I have to speak to Kevin and Kaye (Seymour, owners) to see which way they want to head with him,” Dixon said.
“He will have a quiet time after Saturday night but whether that means he just ticks along here or goes away for a spell I don’t know.
“He’s done well in Victoria during the summer in previous years so that may be where he heads next.”
