Tough assignment to round out star filly’s season
MULTIPLE Group One winning filly Pelosi will round out her season with possibly her toughest assignment.
Pelosi has already been involved in several difficult scrapes this term, having contested the South East Derby and Oaks and the New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge.
The Anna Woodmansey-trained pacer was triumphant in the latter Group One at Club Menangle on October 24.
At Albion Park on Saturday night Pelosi is poised to contest the Ultimate Tools Pace against a strong field of colts and geldings
“Wayne (Honan, owner) wanted to run her again, and given how well she came through last week’s run, we’ve put her in,” Woodmansey said.
“It’s going to be a hard race for her, but she’s in terrific shape and will be more than competitive.”
A last start winner of the Three-Year-Old Fillies’ Classic, Pelosi has drawn to settle in a prominent position from barrier two.
To Woodmansey’s delight, Pelosi’s main dangers haven’t fared as well in the draw.
Successful in the Three-Year-Old Colts’ and Geldings’ Classic, Governor Jujon will begin from the outside of the back row.
Runner-up behind Governor Jujon, Blacksadance has drawn the inside of the second line.
Producing an eye-catching run to finish third after losing 40 metres at the start, Ranger Bomb is the widest drawn on the front row.
Despite his tough starting position Governor Jujon is the $1.70 favourite with TAB Fixed Odds.
Pelosi is on the fourth line of betting at $8.
