IF ALL goes well, a slice of history will be recorded during tomorrow night’s Globe Derby meeting.

Set to make her racing debut, Sienna Bella is aiming to become the first of her kind to make her way to South Australia’s metropolitan winners’ circle.

Prepared by Sharon Newman, Sienna Bella is a skewbald, with available annals suggesting no ‘coloured’ horses have scored at the venue.

“I didn’t realise that,” Newman said. “If that is the case, it would be fantastic if she can become the first.

“Graham Tindale bred her and got her going before sending her over about six weeks ago as he was going on holidays and she’s been doing alright here.

“I trialled last Sunday and she got home quite nicely.”

To be driven by Newman’s daughter Sharni, Sienna Bella is the sole starter on the back line, having drawn barrier eight.

Stating she has no set tactics for the daughter of former top Queensland pacer Rollon Bigred, Newman is hoping for a steady pace throughout the 1800-metre Pacing For Pink Classic.

“Hopefully they will roll along, which she will enjoy,” Newman said. “From barrier eight Sharni will have to see how the pole horse comes out early before deciding on tactics.

“We’re not going out there expecting her to win, but she will run a nice race, and with luck, you never know what might happen.”
