SHORT term plans remain uncertain with Toro Stride despite his Group Three success at Club Menangle last night.

Fresh from winning a trial just three days earlier, Toro Stride captured the Yamamoto Trotters’ Mile for co-trainers Mary and Joe Rando.

Naturally pleased with the flashy chestnut’s performance, the Randos are yet to decide on Toro Stride’s next target, with an interstate trip a distinct possibility.

Further ahead, the Randos are hopeful Toro Stride can play a role in the time-honoured Inter Dominion, which begins with heats in Newcastle on November 29.

“To be honest, we haven’t had a serious look beyond this weekend,” Joe said. “There are a couple of nice options in Queensland next month we are thinking about heading up for.

“One of those is a $100,000 race, so it is pretty inviting.

“I’ll have to discuss it with Emilio (Rosati, owner) to see which way he wants to go before we make any solid plans.

“Long term, given the Inter Dominion is in our own backyard, we’ll definitely be aiming to have him in the series.”

With Will Rixon holding the reins, Toro Stride worked to the front from barrier eight as early leader, Itzfergietime, was eased to take a trail.

Bursting clear of the pack during the latter stages, the son of Love You cruised to a 12-metre win from Itzfergietime.

Satin Stride, a stablemate of the winner, was seven metres away third in 1:55.7 over 1609 metres.

“We were pretty confident with him and he ran up to expectations,” Joe said. “He’s a nice type which has only had 25 starts and we’re positive he can keep getting better experience.”
