VOID of luck during their maiden voyage, Olivia Weidenbach and her new best friend are hoping things go a lot smoother this time around.
Weidenbach recently purchased Lady Olivias Folly for obvious reasons!
“I’d been looking for a horse I could take to the races and drive and was just trying to find the right one,” Weidenbach said.
“Then one day Sonya (Smith) rang and said she had found me the perfect horse…when she said it was Lady Olivias Folly, I said straight away ‘I’m buying her’ and so I did.”
The Olivias debuted in Ballarat last week, but finished towards the tail of the field following a torrid passage.
“We had no luck,” Weidenbach said. “Well, that’s no entirely true…we got luck, it was just all bad!
“We got inconvenienced twice and never really had a shot at it.”
Weidenbach and the daughter of Bgs Folly – which is trained by Smith – will try again tomorrow night, this time at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Drawn awkwardly in barrier six, Lady Olivias Folly will rely on good fortune over 1720 metres.
“The draw isn’t great,” Weidenbach said. “We are going to need better luck this time.
“She has been working fine and is ready to run a good race, hopefully things can go our way this time.”
