Old lion versus young lion, upstart against too many starts!
IT’S a case of old lion versus young lion, the master battling the apprentice, the upstart against the too many starts.
During tonight’s strong Ballarat card, veteran horseman Joe Pace will clash with his son, Adrian.
The duo will butt heads in the eighth race – the third time they have competed in the same event.
Although Joe holds a two to nothing advantage, Adrian declared it’s time for “cream to rise to the top”.
“Dad’s had luck on his side,” Adrian said. “More of a fluke really!
“We all know luck only gets you so far and tonight we will see the cream to rise to the top as it always does.
“I’ve told him he’s had his day and it’s time to make way for the new and improved version!”
Adrian has the early edge ahead of round three after drawing the pole with Supreme Dominator.
A last start winner in Cranbourne, Supreme Dominator is the $3.80 second elect.
Joe will partner Diamond Party from barrier six.
Successful at two of her last three starts, Diamond Party is midrange in betting at $16.
“Supreme Dominator has drawn better and has a little more class…just like me,” Adrian said. “Diamond Party is a nice pacer and has to be respected…unlike Dad!
“Seriously though, she shouldn’t be taken lightly.
“With the right run either of them can win and hopefully that’s how it plays out tonight.”
