Partytime after surprise victory

PARTYTIME provided just that for the Sue Hunter stable with his “surprise” win in Kilmore last night.

Having his sixth start for the astute horsewoman – and 10th overall – Partytime broke his maiden status with an emphatic performance.

With Rod Lakey in the cart, the son of Majestic Son led throughout to score by 21-and-a-half metres from Orlandos Gift.

Leotardandlance was a metre away third.

The trotter had previous run a pair of seconds at the same venue since joining Hunter’s team.

“I was somewhat confident with him, but he does have a few tricks to him,” Hunter said.

“The win wasn’t totally unexpected, but I was surprised by the margin.”

Co-owned by Hunter and her husband Shane Gloury, Partytime rated a modest 2:05.9 over 2180 metres.

Preparing to return to New Zealand to visit her family, Hunter plans to spell Partytime and his stablemates.

“He’ll go for a break now,” Hunter said. “He’s raced three weeks in a row and could do with a freshen-up.

“I’m going to New Zealand to visit family for the first time in two years, so it is a good time to give them a break as well.”
