Plans in limbo with quality mare

PLANS with quality mare Sea Salt remain in limbo despite her impressive win at Globe Derby last Saturday night.

A victim of her own success, Sea Salt is all but running out of options in South Australia according to trainer Tyson Linke.

Boasting an imposing record of nine wins and six placings from 17 starts, Sea Salt’s quick rise through the grades is likely to result in her being sent interstate.

“I’m not sure what we will do with her now,” Linke said. “She is up to open class here because of the national rating system, but she’s had less than 20 starts and isn’t hardened enough.

“She’ll have a few days off now while I talk to my sister (Tara-Shae) who owns her about what we should do.

“The options are likely to be Western Australia, Queensland or take aim at the country cups here next season.”

Caught wide from five during her latest win, Sea Salt was sent forward to test the leader, Deuce Coupe, from the ‘death seat’.

Forging her way to the front around the final bend, the daughter of Downbytheseaside completed a four-and-a-half metre win from Don Arthur.

Lochinvar Magic was a metre away third as the winner rated 1:56 over 1800 metres.

“It was a great run from her,” Linke said. “Not only did she do all the work, she dragged a flat tyre from the 300.”
