Confident despite ‘tricky draw’

CONFIDENCE remains at a reasonable level with promising mare Sea Salt despite her tough draw.

Winner of her last two starts, with an overall record of eight wins and six placings from 16 starts, Sea Salt will begin from barrier five in tomorrow night’s Kevin and Kay Seymour Final at Globe Derby.

Although disappointed with the four-year-old’s starting position, trainer Tyson Linke believes Sea Salt can continue her winning ways.

Early betting markets eho Linke’s faith, with Sea Salt a $1.30 favourite.

Lochinvar Magic is considered the biggest threat at $6.50 from gate 10 for premier horseman Ryan Hryhorec.

Like Sea Salt, Lochinvar Magic was successful in a series heat last weekend.

“It’s not going to be fun from there,” Linke said. “The draw can make it tricky and she’ll have to be at her best from that draw.

“She’s been working a treat and I’m very happy with her, so there is no reason why she won’t be at her best.

“Lochinvar Magic looks like a free-for-aller in the making and is clearly the one to beat.

“Barrier one also puts Alora in a good position for Toby (Ryan, trainer), so she can’t be taken lightly.”
