TALENTED young reinswoman Shannon O’Sullivan is in high spirits despite remaining in hospital following a race fall in Ouyen last night.
O’Sullivan was driving Bettor B Nice in the final event on the card, with the pacer contacting a sulky wheel, losing balance and crashing to the ground just after the finishing post.
Catapulted from the sulky, O’Sullivan landed on her face, receiving a severe cut to her chin.
Taken to the Mildura Hospital where she remained overnight, O’Sullivan has been transported to Melbourne today to have a specialist examine her injury.
Given the depth of the gash O’Sullivan will require plastic surgery.
“She has been cleared from any serious injuries, which is good news,” O’Sullivan’s father Jim said.
“She was in Mildura but given her cut went to the bone they decided not to stitch it and sent photos to Melbourne for a specialist to look at.
“It will require plastic searching so she is being taken to Melbourne as we speak.
“Overall she is in high spirits, but will have at least a week off before getting going again.”
