Premier trainer dominates unique day

MULTIPLE trips along the Western Freeway have proven fruitful for premier trainer Emma Stewart today.

Beginning with the breakfast meeting at Tabcorp Park Melton this morning and ending with this evening’s program at the same venue, Stewart has dominated proceedings.

In fact, Stewart bookended the unique day by capturing the first race at 8:30am and the last at 8:30pm!

“It has been a different kind of day but a great one for the team,” Stewart said. “It’s not unusual to have runners at a day meeting and then at a night meeting in the same day, but this morning’s early start was out of the ordinary.”

Seven races were conducted prior to lunch before racing returned for another eight at 5pm.

By the end of it all Stewart prepared seven winners, beginning with Beautiful Woman which broke her maiden at her second start.

Driven by Greg Sugars, the daughter of Art Major led home a stable trifecta as Float On By and Celebrity Chef filled the placings.

Bred and owned by Lauriston Bloodstock, Beautiful Woman rated 1:56.4 over 1720 metres.

“She is a nice filly which should keep getting better as she gains experience,” Stewart said. “I was very pleased with her run, with the three of them actually.”

Stewart and Sugars were then successful with Abouttime before concession driver Connor Clarke steered Mirragon to victory.

During their return visit Stewart and Sugars scored with Like A Widlfire before the record-breaking horsewoman joined forces with Jodi Quinlan.

Quinlan was triumphant with Major Times and Rocknroll Ronnie.

Clarke rounded out the haul by guiding Freddy Funk to an upset win over his stablemate and favourite, Two Times Bettor.

Clarke was also successful earlier on the card with Miss Mcgonagall which is trained by his father, Stephen.
