PREMIER trainer Emma Stewart will aim to join pair of champion at Kilmore during the weekend.
Stewart has two runners engaged in the Kilmore Cup as she chases her third victory in the once famous country feature.
Success will see Stewart become just the third trainer to win the event more than twice.
As it stands, Stewart is one of only four trainers to secure the Cup with different pacers, having won with Guaranteed and Yankee Rockstar in 2014 and ‘16.
Glenn Douglas was triumphant with Bold Cruiser in 2008 and Make Mine Cullen in 2010, while David Aiken scored with Coco’s Dream in 1996, Lennytheshark in 2017 and Im The Boss the following year.
Leading the way is the late legendary horseman Bob Knight, who dominated his hometown major between 1982 and 1990.
Knight won four consecutive Cups with Popular Alm in 1981 and ’82, Distant Thunder in ’83 and Raging Bull in ’85 before Amendment outclassed his rivals in 1990.
As for Stewart’s latest attack on the Group Two, she will be represented by Out To Play and Mach Dan.
Among the placings during his two run back from a spell, Out To Play has fared best in barrier two.
Drawn awkwardly in gate five, Mach Dan was fourth when first-up from a break last week.
“I’m happy with where both of them are at,” Stewart said. “It’s not an easy race, but you don’t expect it to be in this class.
“With the right run either of them can win…we’ll just have to hope for that right run on the night.”
