Primed to maintain perfect record

A WIDE draw should have little to no affect on Ellmers Hoofing It’s bid to maintain his perfect South Australian record.

Joining the stable of premiership winning trainer Jonathon Kingston-Mayne last month, Ellmers Hoofing It has won his two starts in easy fashion.

Scoring first-up at Globe Derby on June 27, the son of Falcon Seelster returned to the same venue for a 1:56.3 victory over 1800 metres last weekend.

Thrilled with Ellmers Hoofing It’s performances, Kingston-Mayne is positive the gelding can complete a hat-trick on Saturday night despite drawing the outside of the front row.

“I couldn’t be happier with him,” Kingston-Mayne said. “He’s done everything we could have asked of him so far.

“Both his starts have been impressive and his track work is first rate.

“His draw on Saturday night isn’t the best, but I can’t see it stopping him.

“Bad luck in the run is his biggest danger.”

Expecting Ellmers Hoofing It to be competitive against the state’s open class performers, Kingston-Mayne has set his sights on various targets, including next season’s country cup circuit.

Kingston-Mayne has also earmarked the new range of $10,000 races Harness Racing SA has launched for the six-year-old.

“Those $10,000 races will be ideal for a horse like him,” Kingston-Mayne said. “They are certainly what I will aim him at once they come along.

“The local cups are also the kind of races I will be heading him towards when the time comes.”
