WELL-KNOWN industry identity Gary Crocker has been nominated for the Harness Racing Australia Chairman’s position.
The role has been vacant since Michael Taranto stood down last June, with Vice Chairman Ken Brown becoming acting chairman.
A respected administrator, Brown is also Chairman of Harness Racing New South Wales.
Crocker also has an impressive resume as an administrator, owner and businessman.
Former Chairman of Harness Racing South Australia, Crocker has been a standardbred owner and breeder for several decades.
No stranger to success with his stock, Crocker is best-known as the owner of Group One and Inter Dominion Consolation winner Major Crocker.
Along with serving as HRSA chairman, Crocker’s administration roles include marketing and sponsorship.
A registered Real Estate Agent, Crocker is a multi-award winning Mortgage Consultant who runs his own consultant business.
With a focus on uniting the industry, Crocker is also a firm advocate of strengthening the grass roots of the sport particularly the breeding sector.
“The breeding industry must become buoyant again to enable enough product to be supplied to our owners, trainers and drivers for it to enable sufficient returns for our code,” Crocker said.
“Participants involved in all facets of our industry need to be rewarded and certainly far better than they are being at present.
“Hopefully I will be able to work towards that as Chairman of Harness Racing Australia.”
