Stablemates to continue domination
THEY completed a clean sweep of the heats earlier this week and there is no reason why they can’t fill the quinella in the Final.
That’s the call from trainer Emma Stewart heading into tomorrow night’s Mildura Cup.
Stewart captured the qualifiers with Our Millionaire and Phoenix Prince which dominate betting markets despite their second row draws.
To be driven by Mark Pitt, Our Millionaire is a $1.85 TAB Fixed Odds favourite from barrier eight.
The stallion is no stranger to Cup success, having won Horsham’s flagship event three starts ago.
Our Millionaire’s tally also includes the Stawell and St Arnaud Cups.
With regular partner Jodi Quinlan to take the reins, Phoenix Prince will begin from gate 10.
Phoenix Prince is desperate to secure a provincial feature this season having run second in the Terang, Horsham and Charlton Cups.
The gelding was also third in the Echuca Cup.
Phoenix Prince has enjoyed Cup glory in previous seasons, winning in Geelong, Cranbourne and Shepparton.
“They both did it easy in their heats and have come through the runs in top shape,” Stewart said. “The Final will be harder again, especially from the draws, but they’re ready to go.
“Barring bad luck I can’t see any reason why they can’t fight out the finish.”
Despite her confidence in the stablemates, Stewart was quick to acknowledge the dangers.
“Boots Electric is proven in this grade and can’t be taken lightly,” Stewart said. “Bulletproof Boy is an opportunist and can certainly upstage them all on his night.”
