LEADING breeding establishment Aldebaran Park and National Trotguide have joined forces in hope of raising valuable funds for young Victorian horsewoman Taylah Schembri.

Schembri was recently diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer, which is a tumour found anywhere in the oesophagus.

In Australia, Oesophageal Cancer is predominantly diagnosed in the lower section of the oesophagus, adjoining the stomach.

Adenocarcinoma, which starts in the glandular tissue of the cells lining the oesophagus, is the most common form of Oesophageal Cancer in the nation.

The other form is Quamous Cell Carcinoma, which starts in the cells that line the oesophagus.

Alarmingly, the five-year survival rate for Oesophageal Cancer is only 22 per cent.

A SERVICE voucher to Skyvalley has been generously donated by Aldebaran Park

Schembri’s crusade has already resulted in several rounds of chemotherapy in hope of decreasing the size of her tumour.

With her condition worsening, Schembri – who graduated from pony trots to race driving – needs to be fed via a tube directly into her stomach.

After reading about Schembri’s battle on www.nationaltrotguide.com.au Aldebaran Park owner Duncan McPherson contacted our office with an amazing gesture.

Aldebaran Park has ever-so-generously donated a service to top sire Skyvalley valued at $2000, which is being offered via raffle.

A star on the track with multiple Group One wins, Skyvalley continues to emulate his racing feats in the breeding barn, with his stock including superstars Tornado Valley and Pink Galahs.

The resulting ‘raffle foal’ will be eligible for the $12,000 Vicbred first win bonus, with Skyvalley’s stock also eligible for Australasia Breeders’ Crown.

Tickets can be purchased by phone Taylah’s father George on 0427 396 016; Austin Mifsud on 0417 087 270 and Rosie Weidenbach on 0448 262 692 or via Facebook.

Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10, with the winner to be announced on Friday, October 1.

“We cannot thank Duncan and Aldebaran Park enough,” George said. “It is incredibly generous of Duncan to help.

“Skyvalley is a great sire, so it is a wonderful prize to win.”

Along with the Skyvalley Service Raffle, there is a GoFundMe page for Schembri which can be reached by clicking HERE.
