Star’s younger sibling makes perfect debut

SHE’S got a long way to go before she can be compared to her star sibling, but Coral Stride has begun the quest in the perfect manner.

In fact, by scoring upon debut in Terang last night, Coral Stride has started her career on a better note.

An exceptionally-bred filly, Coral Stride is from Group One winning mare Lilac Stride, which was retired with 17 wins and 22 placings from 63 outings for a bankroll of $276,140.

As a matron Lilac Stride has a faultless record from four starters, with her progeny including triple Group One winner, Wolf Stride.

Wolf Stride finished an inglorious last – beaten 194 metres – during his maiden voyage to the races!

Although thrilled with Coral Stride’s performance, co-trainer Beau Tindale has no doubt it is too soon to mention the three-year-old in comparison to her half-brother.

“She’s got a long way to go before something like that can be done,” said Tindale who prepares his team with his wife, Ann-Jeanette.

“We’re very happy with her first run and just hope she can keep the momentum going.”

With talented concession driver Brad Chisholm holding the reins, Coral Stride led throughout from the pole to score by seven-and-a-half metres from Keayang Speak.

Zwick was two-and-a-half metres away third.

Owned by Emilio and Mary Rosati, Coral Stride rated 2:00.6 over 2180 metres.

“She had trialled well and her work had been strong, so we expected a good run from her,” Tindale said. “She didn’t let us down.”
