A TRICKY draw will be no excuse for defeat at Tabcorp Park Menangle tonight.

Making the trip north of the Murray for the Pink Bonnet, prominent Victorian trainer Michael Stanley will contest the Group Two with Soho Almasi.

An impressive debut winner in Melton last week, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase has drawn awkwardly in barrier seven.

The daughter of Mach Three slots into six with the removal of the emergency.

Acknowledging the starting position makes the task at hand difficult, Stanley stated Soho Almasi will have to be capable of overcoming such feats if she is to live up to expectations.

“She is a very classy filly,” Stanley said. “I’ve got no doubt she will be up with the top bracket as the season goes on.

“If she is going to reach the heights I believe she can she has to be able to win from any draw and that starts tonight.”

Citing Breivika as the one to beat, Stanley also rates Somethingaboutlexy and Blazin Beauty as strong chances.

Breivika and Blazin Beauty have also made successful debuts while Somethingaboutlexy was an eye-catching second behind Breivika during her only start.

Somethingaboutlexy has fared best in gate two, with Blazin Beauty in three and Breivika to come from four.

TAB Fixed Odds has Soho Almasi as the $1.45 favourite with Breivika and Somethingaboutlexy on the second line at $5.50.

Blazin Beauty is among the outsiders at $26.

“Breivika looked impressive for Blake (Fitzpatrick), Somethingaboutlexy went well when second to her and Blazin Beauty seems nice,” Stanley said.“All of them have only had one or two starts and been thereabouts so it is hard to line up the form.”
