Well-bred filly completes perfect debut

RARELY without a top performer in their team, prominent owners Emilio and Maria Rosati appear to have another promising type in their possession.

A well-bred filly, Kvitka Stride completed a successful debut in Newcastle yesterday, with her victory following several strong trials.

Winning her three trials while in the care of astute horseman Scott Hewitt, Kvitka Stride had another trio of hit outs for Rickie Alchin for a first-up second and two wins.

Pleased with the two-year-old’s progress, Alchin believes Kvitka Stride is capable of making her way to the top of the crop before the season’s end.

“Scott did a lot of the early work with her, I’ve only had her for eight weeks,” Alchin said. “She is doing everything on raw ability at the moment, but is doing it quite easily.

“I don’t know how good she’ll be, and we haven’t gotten to the bottom of her yet, but we like her.

“If she keeps improving as we hope she will, I’ll aim her at the Breeders’ Challenge in a few months.

“She will go around again in a fortnight and then we’ll take it from there.”

With Alchin in the cart, Kvitka Stride led throughout from the pole to score by eight metres from her stablemate Bouquet Stride, with Birubi Boogie a metre-and-a-half away third.

Bred by the Rosatis, Kvitka Stride is by Downbytheseaside from the couple’s former handy mare Cherry Stride, which is a sister to Group One winner Wolf Stride.
