WITH his shot term goals on hold, trainer David Moran hopes his long range plans will remain intact.

Returning his star four-year-old Lochinvar Art to work after a short break, Moran had his sights set on the Riverina Series and Queensland’s Winter Carnival.

Due to travel restrictions imposed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Riverina Series has been postponed.

With the $100,000 Final originally programmed to be conducted a fortnight ago, the Riverina Series has been rescheduled for October.

Queensland’s Winter Carnival has been cancelled because of the Coronavirus.

“The Group One in Wagga was his first main aim this time in,” Moran said. “But that’s been put on the backburner.

“I was also planning on taking him to Queensland for the main races, but that’s off as well.”

Moran’s long term target is the Inter Dominion, which is programmed to begin at Club Menangle on November 28.

During the interim Moran will find “whatever I can” for Lochinvar Art.

“The Inter Dominion is still something I am looking at later in the year,” Moran said. “Hopefully these restrictions are well and truly behind us and the series goes ahead.

“Until then there is nothing specific set out for him and I will race him in whatever I can.”

Driven by Moran during his comeback in Shepparton last night, Lochinvar Art was caught three-wide early from his second row draw before being sent forward to find the front.

Never fully extended the son of Modern Art rated 1:56.5 over 2190 metres as Leonidas and Ellmers Hoofing It filled the placings.

“He did it quite easily and I was very pleased with his run,” Moran said. “He’ll certainly be sharper again next time out.”
