Details emerge of bizarre track invasion
DETAILS are beginning to emerge relating to the bizarre incident at Gloucester Park during the weekend.
After crashing through two gates a woman drove on the track as the field was lining up behind the mobile for the third race on Saturday night.
Narrowly missing the clerk of the course, the woman then stopped in front of the winning post.
With patrons rushing to the car the driver refused to open the door while claiming there was a bomb in the vehicle which would ignite if she turned off the ignition.
Beginning her journey again, the driver came to a halt along the back straight where she was arrested and taken to hospital.
While no charges have been issued at this point, it has been reported the same car was involved in a crash at the nearby Optus Stadium before speeding into the harness racing venue.

“People were trying to get her out but she wouldn’t open the window or the door,” trainer Gary Hall said. “She left the engine running and was telling everybody if she turned the car off it was going to explode as there was a bomb in the car.
“Looking back you can laugh at it, but it is no joking matter and certainly wasn’t funny at the time given how it could have unfolded.”
Multiple award winning photographer Jodie Hallows was metres away from the car when it paused at the winning post and described the incident as “bizarre”.
“It was so intense and yet bizarre,” Hallows said. “It’s just lucky no one was hurt considering the field was on the track and the car got pretty close to the clerk of the course.”
