Draw not a problem for in-form mare

ANOTHER tough draw should have no affect on in-form mare Dee Jays Miss according to trainer Max Beasley.

Engaged in tonight’s Globe Derby meeting, Dee Jays Miss will begin from the outside of the front row – barrier seven – over 1800 metres.

Racing in sensational fashion, the daughter of Lather Up has won four of her last five starts, with three of her outings from barriers five and six.

“Being out wide shouldn’t worry her,” Beasley said. “She’s pretty much getting used to it lately.

“She’s had a few hard draws in the past handful of starts, but still managed to do well.

“I can’t see any reason why she won’t again tonight.”

To be driven by regular reinswoman Angela Chapman, Dee Jays Miss is a $1.55 TAB Fixed Odds favourite, with Nevada Gambler considered the main danger at $3.50 from gate three.

Co-trained by Jill Neilson and Katie Wilson, Nevada Gambler has won his last two starts in effortless style.

“Angela has a great affiliation with the mare and I couldn’t be happier with the way she has been driving her,” Beasley said. “It’s that connection between the two which has made a difference on the track.

“Nevada Gambler is the obvious one to beat as he’s got the runs on the board and the right draw.”
