Drawn to honour champion mum
IF THERE is a sentimental wager to be had this weekend it has to be at Albion Park on Saturday night.
Sent north for Queensland’s revamped Winter Carnival, Love My Sister will tackle the Fleur De Lil Ladyship Stake for trainer Craig Cross.
By premier sire Art Major, Love My Sister is a daughter of Fleur De Lil.
A star on the track, Fleur De Lil won 39 of her 101 starts on both sides of the equator, with 20 placings and a bankroll of $1,041,636 also to her credit.
Fleur De Lil is from broodmare gem French Flair, which boasts eight winners from nine starters, including millionaire mare Miss Galvinator.
As for Love My Sister, she has drawn to return to the winners’ circle from the pole.
Successful at Albion Park a fortnight ago, the five-year-old was unplaced last week, but was a victim of circumstances according to Cross.
“Nothing went her way last Saturday night,” Cross said. “She drew the second row and never got into it.
“The race was never run to suit her but she did well enough to expect her to be right in it this week from a better draw.
“She’ll come out early and should settle into a nice trail.
“It would be good to see her win a race named after her dam.”
TAB Fixed Odds has Love My Sister as the $2.30 favourite, with Cross’ other entrant, Delightful Tara, at $23 from barrier six.
Local mare Justalittle Torque is on the second line of betting at $2.80 from gate three.
“Justalittle Torque beat pretty much the identical field last week and will be hard to beat again,” Cross said.
