‘Special boy’ ready to extend perfect record

“SPECIAL boy” Delightful Dream should have little trouble maintaining his perfect South Australian record despite an awkward draw this weekend.

Winner of his two starts for Samantha Hill, Delightful Dream is engaged in Saturday night’s Pacing For Pink Classic at Globe Derby.

Although the widest drawn in the field of six, Hill is confident the son of Bettors Delight can continue his undefeated status.

Delightful Dream scored by a whopping 39 metres upon his local debut before backing-up with a soft 11-metre victory earlier this week.

“He’s my special boy,” Hill said. “I think he is going to be a really nice horse.

“He is still very, very green and has got a lot of learning to do, but he does all the right things and gives me the feeling he can go a long way.

“That said, Saturday will be his biggest assignment as the draw is not ideal, but I’ve got no doubt he is up to it.

“He has worked in his first two starts here, so this time I plan to sit back and see what he does with one late run.”

Earlier on the card Hill will be represented by another aiming to keep his perfect record intact since arriving from New South Wales.

Like Delightful Dream, Ashante Prince has won both starts for the prominent horsewoman by an average margin of five metres!

To be driven by Hill’s husband Wayne, Ashante Prince will begin from barrier 10 over 1800 metres.

“He has surprised me and I really like him,” Hill said. “He is one of four horses we got last January, which we gave some time off and brought up steadily.

“Judging him by his form and the replays he looked like a rat, but he seems to have ironed out a bit and has got some ability.

“It’s been a matter of fine tuning his manner as much as anything and I think he will keep going through the grades.

“His draw isn’t great, but not terrible either. He will be driven like he was in his first two starts…put into the race at the bell as he seems to have a big motor.”
