Primed for interstate campaign

TALENTED youngster Heza Royal will round out his preparation ahead of an interstate campaign tonight.

Poised to cross the border into Victoria in search of more feature glory, Heza Royal will compete at Globe Derby as trainer Allan Cronin finalises travel arrangements.

Successful in last season’s Southern Cross Final at Globe Derby, Heza Royal will attempt to capture Victoria’s equivalent – Vicbred Super Series – in coming weeks.

The futurity begins with heats in Kilmore on August 27.

“Everything is going to plan with him,” Cronin said. “I couldn’t be happier with his condition as we look at going over for the Vicbred heats.

“He’s in terrific shape and Saturday night’s run will keep him right at his peak.”

Ryan Hryhorec will partner the son of Soho Tribeca, which is the sole runner drawn along the second row in the 1800-metre event.

Despite his draw, Heza Royal is a $1.80 favourite in early betting markets, with Deuce Coupe considered the main danger at $3.50 from the pole.

“I’m not too fussed about the draw,” Cronin said. “He is going well enough to overcome that.”
