AS SHE has on so many occasions, record-breaking horsewoman Emma Stewart is poised to dominate heats of a series.
During the past few years Stewart’s stable has been to the fore in futurities, winning qualifiers and Finals across several states seemingly at will.
None more so than the rich Vicbred Super Series which Stewart has all but turned into her own playground.
Last season Stewart and her partner Clayton Tonkin won 17 of the 36 heats and semi-finals before annexing three Group One Finals.
In 2019 the pair won 23 of the 34 heats and semis before securing five Group One Finals.
It was a similar scenario 2018 when Stewart won 24 of the 34 qualifiers across the three age categories before capturing five Group One Finals.
The Australasian Breeders’ Crown has also netted similar results.
This time around Stewart has a strong hand in Thursday’s Bendigo-based Australian Pacing Gold heats for three-year-olds.
Five qualifiers for the two sexes are on the cards, with Stewart represented by three favourites and several within the top few in betting markets.
Stewart’s leading contenders are Act Now at $1.60, Tough Tilly at $1.40 and Joanna at $1.20.
“We’ve got a good team in at Bendigo and hopefully we can get some good results,” Stewart said. “There are quite a few nice types in on the night and some pretty strong fields, which you come to expect from APG.
“We’ll have to do our best and see how the night unfolds.”
