Riding crest of wave into tonight’s racing

FRESH from dominating yesterday’s Leeton program, Jackson Painting hopes to ride the crest of his wave into Club Menangle tonight.

Painting has two drives at the world class, with Georgie Martin considered his best chance of success in the second event.

Winner of her last two starts Georgie Martin has drawn barrier six over 2300 metres but slots into five as a result of a scratching.

“Georgie is racing in top form and should be thereabouts again,” Painting said. “The draw could be a bit tricky but if she gets the right run along she will be in the finish.”

Painting will then partner Highland Major later on the card, with the daughter of Art Major to come from gate 10.

Despite winning three of her last four starts Highland Major is among the outsiders at $51.

“She is going to need a bit of luck,” Painting said. “She is great within herself, but with a tough draw and a step up in grade it is going to be difficult.”

Georgie Martin and Highland Major are trained by David Kennedy who provided Painting with three legs of his quartet in Leeton.

The duo combined to score with Deekays Major, London Lady and exciting freshman Rocknroll Runa.

Triumphant in a New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge heat, Rocknroll Runa rated 1:56 over 1758 metres to take his record to four wins from six starts.

The son of Rock N Roll Heaven also helped Painting bookend the meeting after the reinsman secured the opening race with White Pointer.

Causing a major upset at $41 on the Tote, White Pointer also provided trainer Noel Maxwell with a drought breaking win.

“I was really happy to get that win for Noel,” Painting said. “It’s been a while since he had a winner so he deserves it.”
