Shane’s successful season
WITH his stable enjoying its best season, Shane Loone hopes the current purple patch can continue at Globe Derby on Saturday night.
Sitting second on the South Australian Trainers’ Premiership, Loone has registered a personal best 40 wins.
Loone’s lot have also run an incredible 115 placings!
Along a pair of last-start winners, Loone will be represented by four members of his team which have been among the placings during their most recent outings.
“The team has done a top job this season and hopefully that can continue as we go along,” Loone said.
“I’ve had my best year and have to thank all those who have supported the stable throughout the season.
“With a bit of luck we can deliver a win or two for our owners on Saturday night.”
Successful at the troubled venue earlier this week, Pay Me Interest has a prime opportunity to complete consecutive wins from barrier two.
“It’s not going to be easy for her, but the draw brings her into it,” Loone said.
Also fresh from his triumph on Monday, Calcavado will come from barrier four in the following event with his stablemate, Montanas Jet, drawn gate seven.
“Calcavado’s draw is tricky, but he’ll go forward to see where he can land in the run,” Loone said. “Montana will have to go back and look to run home late.”
Veteran warhorses Bien Hoa and Celestial Daybreak will then line up for their 68th start of the season.
An evergreen 12-year-old, Bien Hoa has notched a win and three placings from his last four outings.
The son of Tinted Cloud has drawn barrier six.
Two races later Celestial Daybreak will also begin from gate six.
“They will both need some luck from the draw,” Loone said. “There is a lot of speed inside Bien Hoa, while I think Celestial Daybreak day cross them.”
Ghent will round out Loone’s attack on the meeting, with the trotter the sole runner on the 20-metre mark.
“Ghent is going alright and comes into it nicely with the concession claim,” Loone said.
