Trainer coy about Blue Riband chances

SHE has two runners in the field, but as for her chances, well that’s a wait and see scenario.

Set to contest Saturday night’s South Australia Trotters’ Derby at Globe Derby, respected horsewoman Claire Goble will be represented by Im Hector and Millys Magic.

The pair make up a third of the Blue Riband field!

“It’s nice to have them in the Derby but how well they will go we’ll have to wait and see,” Goble said.

“I’m not being very committed with my thoughts on their chances as you never know with three-year-old trotters.

“It’s only a small field so hopefully they can settle into a good spot and go well enough.”

A last start winner in Bendigo on March 6, Millys Magic has fared best in barrier two.

Im Hector, which has been runner-up at three of his last four starts, will come from gate three.

The son of Quaker Jet was first-up for a month when runner-up against open age rivals last week.

David Smith is poised to drive Millys Magic, with Wayne Hill to take the reins behind Im Hector.

“Millys Magic had a month off after her run in Bendigo so she will go into the Derby quite fresh,” Goble said.

“Im Hector hadn’t raced for a month and had a little setback before running second two weeks ago but he has trained on really well.

“He will be better again this time around.”
