Drought-breaking win beginning of a flood?

CONNECTIONS of Truscott Hall hope last night’s drought-breaking win is the beginning of a flood.

Registering his first success since last September, Truscott Hall will back-up at Globe Derby tomorrow.

Drawn barrier five in a field of six, the trotter will compete against pacers over 1800 metres.

The Luke O’Neill-trained stallion will then return to the troubled venue for the Super Saturday night program.

“The writing has been on wall for a few weeks so I was rapt he put it all together last night.” O’Neill said. “He’d lost a bit of his speed but last night he had it back.

“I put him against pacers to sharpen his speed up a few starts back and it seems to have worked.

“He’s racing again tomorrow against pacers to again work on his speed which hopefully will keep him sharp for the Super Saturday trot next weekend.”

Driven by Ryan Hryhorec, Truscott Hall began well from his 10-metre mark to work to the lead as early frontrunner Elementofdoubt was eased to take a trail.

Racing clear of the field, the son of Angus Hall cruised to a 25-metre win from Ghent, with Swaffham Success 10 metres away third.

Well-backed to start at $4.60, Truscott Hall rated 2:04.1 over 2230 metres.

“Ryan said he felt good the whole way and he was confident a long way from home,” O’Neill said. “It was a top run and showed a real glimpse of his best.

“Hopefully now he is back to his top and can keep his best form going.”
