Hoping for better luck

FRESH from a pair of successful interstate raids, Zac Pearson is hoping for better luck in his home state this weekend.

Pearson crossed the border with Keayang Hungry to score in Horsham on July 27 before a return visit netted a win in Hamilton a fortnight later.

With the son of Stay Hungry in a rich vein of form, Pearson will make the trek to Globe Derby on Saturday night.

The last time the duo competed at South Australia’s home of harness racing Keayang Hungry could only manage a fifth.

“It didn’t go as well as I would’ve liked last time, but he has been terrific since,” Pearson said. “He’s won his last couple and is feeling terrific.

“His work this week has been great and I expect another good run from him.”

Taking advantage of local reinsman’s Jason Kittel concession claim, Keayang Hungry is down in grade compared to his latest outings.

Although drawn awkwardly in barrier six, the gelding has been kept safe at $8 in early betting markets.

Keayang Memory and Nevada Gambler share favouritism at $2.20 from gates one and four.

“The draw does make it a little tough,” Pearson said. “I still think it is a winnable race.

“Samantha Hill is doing a great job with Keayang Memory and Nevada Gambler is in great form for Jil Neilson and Katie Wilson…they are definitely the two to beat.”
