Drawn to end season on a high

QUALITY youngster Cat King Cole has drawn to end her season on a perfect note.

In what shapes as her last run for the term, Cat King Cole is engaged in tomorrow night’s Albion Park Australian Pacing Gold Final.

Last May the Darren Weeks-trained filly captured the Australian Pacing Gold Bullion Final at the same venue.

On that occasion Cat King Cole led throughout from barrier six against her own sex.

This time around the daughter of Hurrikane Kingcole will take on the ‘boys’ in the Group One.

“I’m not too concerned about her racing the colts,” Weeks said. “She’s beaten the colts before, including half of tomorrow night’s field in her heat.”

To Weeks’ delight Cat King Cole has drawn to repeat her qualifier victory from the pole.

Cat King Cole led throughout from barrier one in her heat.

“She had to draw one to four, but I’ll take one any day,” Weeks said. “She hasn’t missed a beat since her run in the heat and is spot on for this.

“She’s had a long season with the earlier APG series, the Qbred and now this, so tomorrow night will be her last run for the year.”

Citing I Am Sparta as the main danger, Weeks is also wary of New South Wales raider My Ultimate Levi.

I Am Sparta has drawn to follow Cat King Cole from the inside of the second row, with My Ultimate Levi to come from nine.

“I Am Sparta is likely to be the biggest threat along the sprint lane,” Weeks said. “My Ultimate Levi hasn’t drawn the best, but I wouldn’t count him out.

“They’ve all earned their spot in the Final, so each of them has to be respected.”
