Looking to join prestigious honour roll
TALENTED filly Star Corka will attempt to join one of her relatives on a prestigious honour roll this weekend.
Set to compete at Globe Derby for trainer Lance Holberton, Star Corka is engaged in the time honoured South Australia Oaks.
Inaugurated in 1956, the Blue Riband was captured by the youngster’s clan member Saved A Corka in 2007.
By Follow The Stars, Star Corka is from Arm A Corka, which is a sister to Saved A Corka
The pair are by Armbro Operative from broodmare gem Uncork.
As for Star Corka’s pending mission, the three-year-old has drawn well in barrier four which should see her settle “prominent early”.
“I’m very happy with the draw,” Holberton said “She can come out well and will be prominent early from there.
“Hopefully she will be in or close to the lead.
“Dani (Hill) gets the best out of her and she will have options from the draw.
“She worked very well this morning and hopefully we’ll get a bit of luck on the night.”
A last start winner in Maryborough, Victorian raider Final Peace is the one to beat according to Holberton.
Prepared by David Murphy, Final Peace will begin from barrier two.
“Final Peace is the one to beat but we’ll be trying,” Holberton said.
