“HE DID plenty wrong, but got the job done, which is the main thing.”

That’s how trainer Shaun Adams summed up One Aussie’s effort at Globe Derby last night.

Making his debut, One Aussie broke stride soon after the start before being settled two-back in the running line from barrier five as Cecil Peak led from gate four.

Forced four-deep around the home bend, One Aussie reached the front in the shadows of the post to score by a neck from South Aussie Star.

Kojax was a head away third as the winner rated 1:58.7 over 1800 metres.

“The ability is there, but geez, he’s green,” Adams said. “Like I said, he did plenty wrong, but did enough right as well.

“Once he is balanced he is pretty safe and you can let him rip, but he looks around and loses concentration.

“Going into that race for example, I was confident in his ability, but was unsure in regards to his manners purely because of lack of experience.

“He’s barely seen the mobile, looks at everything and has never been under lights, so a lot of things could have upset him.”

Set to enjoy a few easy days, One Aussie will then be aimed at the Lordship Stake in a fortnight.

The Golden Nursery in October and Southern Cross in December are also part of the agenda for the son of Inter Dominion winner Tiger Tara.
